Klaus Herding GmbH, founded in 1918 as Weberei Carl Herding GmbH & Co KG, changed in the course of time from a manufacturing company producing raw materials and rough weavers to a leading trading company for home textiles. Herding has been working with Disney since 1957. The present company was founded and established by this cooperation, which is the market leader for home textiles in the licensed sector. Our target groups are primarily babies, toddlers, adolescents and young adults. The collection of Klaus Herding GmbH includes the entire spectrum of classic home textile products. The whole of Europe is the scale of the sales market. Also, Herding currently employs 83 people.

The company has received several awards as a family-friendly company, both from the City of Bocholt and the Bertelsmann Foundation. Our aim is to enable, facilitate and support all colleagues in reconciling family and work, both with regard to children and the care of relatives.

Even though Herding is one of the smaller companies, we try to prepare our trainees for their professional future in the best possible way. The training includes going through all departments as well as various seminars, for example on customs laws, sales strategies or foreign payment transactions. This includes a four-week stay abroad and in-house English lessons as well as a visit to a large port and the textile museum in Bocholt.

Due to our corporate social responsibility (CSR) and high requirements of the licensors, a transparent flow of information along the value and supply chain is indispensable for Klaus Herding GmbH.

Herding is aware of its responsibility to people and the environment. It is a part of our principles to protect consumers, employees and the environment. Our products are produced according to Öko-Tex Standard 100 - from yarn and fabrics to the end product.

With our membership in amfori BSCI we are emphasizing our social responsibility towards the employees of our company and our production facilities. The amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI) is a code of conduct based on international labour standards of the ILO (International Labour Organization), which supports globally operating companies in building ethical supply chains and in monitoring and continuously optimizing social standards worldwide.

Since 2016 we have been following the path taken by Greenpeace to detoxify textiles („DETOX“). The aim is to replace all environmentally harmful substances with environmentally friendly substances. When selecting our production facilities, we attach great importance to ensuring that they meet the „DETOX“ requirements.

Our Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified articles meet strict ecological and social criteria and are made from certified organic cotton. Throughout the entire textile production chain, we attach great importance to sustainable production and packaging.

The Herding company received the award as a CSR company Münsterland on November 6th, 2020. We have decided to pursue the idea of sustainability in all areas of our company‘s activities in order to take on social responsibility.

CSR is our orientation, which we want to keep in focus in order to achieve permanent optimization in all business areas. It was therefore logical for us to take the next step and develop a company-wide strategy to implement environmentally and socially responsible business practices in a holistic way.

During this time, a team of employees from all departments and the management developed the CSR guideline, strategy, program of measures and ultimately the first CSR status report. The award motivates us to implement our action plan and thus make improvements visible step by step.
